Having exhibition in Ron Arad : Restless - TECHNOLOGY DAY, Barbican Art Gallery Barbican Art Gallery stages the first major survey in the UK of the internationally acclaimed, London-based design maverick Ron Arad. Ron Arad: Restless explores three decades of Arad’s designs from his early post-punk approach of assembling products from readymade parts to his exclusive and highly polished sculptural furnishings. Featuring a dramatic exhibition design by Ron Arad Associates using the latest LED display technology, Ron Arad: Restless also includes architectural designs and immediately recognisable mass produced pieces. Highlighting the significance of experimentation, process and materials in Arad’s work, the exhibition offers a timely insight into the development of objects from initial idea and fabrication to finished design. Having exhibition in Supervisions, the Korean Cultural Centre UK The British Council and the Korean Cultural Centre UK are pleased to announce Supervisions: UK Korean Artists. The exhibition attempts to capture a sense of the diversity of works produced by Korean artists and designers currently living in the UK. It presents work by nineteen individuals selected through an open call. Although there were no conditions attached to the submission and it had no particular theme, common subjects run through the exhibition. This year sees an interest in the issue of surveillance, networks and the visioning of space and territory. With this in mind, the title Supervisions naturally emerged, as a reference to the themes of observation and examination of the world and society. The exhibition brings to the fore the acuity of Korean designers and artists - their responsiveness to atmosphere, place and the palpable but often invisible currents that seem increasingly to define and capture the minutiae of our everyday lives. The exhibition has been curated by Emily Butler and Ellie Smith from the Visual Arts and the Architecture, Design, Fashion teams at the British Council, and Stephanie Seungmin Kim, Korean Cultural Centre UK. A specially commissioned publication designed by THIS IS Studio will accompany the exhibition.
Having exhibition in Work in Progress Show - November / December 2009 We have developed three focus areas above the platform system. These focus areas deal with issues that we think are important in design at the moment and which we believe should lead the debate in the department. The aim for this year is to establish these three focus areas strongly in the department’s teaching and communication.

It developed from a visionary nucleus of leading creative thinkers from the Berlin design scene, whose expertise lay in the recognition and transformation of current as well as coming trends in culture and design. The objective from the beginning until today is to bring together the powerful potential of contemporary design; to give it a space and setting and to expose it to a wide array of audience. At the same time the industry and economy are given the opportunity to get in contact with innovative developers and designers and therefore make use of the developed synergies.
